ACT International firmly believes in attaining the highest standards of good governance while recognizing the fact that a smooth execution of strategies mainly depends on the quality of governance. The existing procedures of the organization ensure accountability to keep its functions transparent which attract both our employees and the network partners. ACT International is resolute to adhere to its vision, mission and values and derive core principles which subsequently influence all our programmes and plans of action.

ACT International has a highly qualified human resource with sound professional ethics in their respective areas of work. At all hierarchal levels of the organization, from its Board of Directors to the lower level managers, the organization has circumspectly selected its team which is committed to vision, mission and values of the organization.

ACT International board comprises of 8 members, who have been nominated on the basis of their services for the well being of society. Additionally, they have a deep understanding of the development context of Pakistan.

The details of Board of directors of the organization are as under:

1. Farkhanda Aurangzeb – Chairman 

Presently she is working with AURAT FOUNDATION as Director Resource Mobilization and Coordination. She has also worked with UN Women on Election Project
She worked with Ministry of Human Rights as grade 20 officer. She was an Associate Professor of English, at the University of Balochistan.(1981-June 2010), a visiting professor of Law, at the University Law College from 1983 to 2002. She is an activist of HRCP since the time of its inception with membership No. 000792.
She also established the Women’s Studies Department in the University of Balochistan and served as Chairman of Gender Studies Department, University of Balochistan, Quetta (November 1993-2008)
She involved in the process of Women Development formally, however, her first intervention on women development was in 1988 when she presented a paper on “Impediments in the development of Women” in an International Seminar held at Islamabad through an organization “FRIENDS”.
She attended numerous National Regional International conferences on women. These include India 1993, Nepal, 1994, Malaysia 1995, Nepal, 1999, Thailand 1999.

2. Mr. Mubashar Nabi Shah- Chief Executive Officer

He has done M.Sc in Rural Development and M.A in Economics. He has almost twenty years experience on his credit with exclusive thirteen years practical understanding of working with international and national organizations aiming at poverty alleviation through community mobilization. He specializes in the field of community mobilization with special perspective of forming institutions, linking them up with donor organizations and facilitating the BODs of these institutions to envision from the perspective of institutional development in their local perspective. Being an associate of MDF Holland, he had contributed widely in strengthening national & regional level institutions through capacity building initiatives linked with microfinance and infrastructure development including TRDP, MRDP, SAFCOW, JWS, IRC, BRSP, KWO, WWOP, HRDN etc.
He got the opportunity to initiate, implement and manage fairly large projects funded by UNDP, WB, WFP, UNICEF, DIFD, USAID and Save the Children (US & UK). He was also amongst the pioneer professionals who initiated the National Rural Support Programme and contributed for its growth and expansion. He was also part of the formation of Human Resource Development Network which sets a milestone in the history of capacity building endeavors in the country. His special interest revolves around social mobilization, capacity building, managing multi – sectoral programmes and innovate divergent programmes in the field of poverty alleviation, disaster preparedness, livelihood, social sector, reconstruction and social mobilization.

3. Mr.Sohrab Ali.

Being Community Development Expert, Mr. Sohrab Ali is well-conversant with various areas of Program Management Knowledge such as Quality Management, Cost Management, Time Management, Human Resource Management, Monitoring and Controlling etc. He has been contributing in many humanitarian efforts in FATA and KP for the past 13 years.

4. Dr. Bushra Shams

Dr. Bushra joined CMH Muzaffarabad as Medical Officer in 1993 and then posted to the remotest areas of Muzaffarabad till 1997 when she joined Family Planning Association of Pakistan (FPAP) as training officer till 1999. Again joined Department of Health AJK and posted to a farthest station as Medical officer. Then in 2003 she got admission in Armed Forces Post graduate Medical institute for Grading in Community Medicine. She passed exam in 2005 and joined Health Department as Assistant Director Planning and then passed a competitive exam for the position of WHO in AJK for TB control program. She joined WHO as National Program Officer in July 2005 and continued working till May2006. In the meantime AJK had the worst Natural disaster of the History (Earthquake 2005) and they worked during the emergency phase for the early rescue and relief services.
Then in May 2006 she joined UNFPA as Provincial and District Program officer and then in 2011 joined UNWOMEN as Gender Advisor AJK after completing 7th Country Program in AJK which was for improving health of women and girls by providing them Reproductive Health services through a comprehensive approach. During her stay with UNFPA she have travelled a lot both nationally and internationally and visited Australia in Nov.2006 where she represented Pakistan in the UN global forum on RH in Crisis and shared her experiences of implementing RH project in a crisis situation in AJK (Earthquake 2005).
Then in 2009 she was nominated for the Flagship course in Health care financing in World Bank Washington DC ,USA .Then she went to Bangkok to attend a detailed course on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management .
She has also worked on the academic side where she has attended a distant learning course from Allama Iqbal Open University and passed MSc in Gender and Women studies. She has written three papers during her work with UNFPA on Abortion,Quality Health Care Delivery System by need based trainings and Effect of Scaling down of Human resource on Health care delivery in Rural areas. She was a co-investigator on the study conducted by Children first and funded by RAF on social Mobility of Community Health workers in AJK.
She has also imparted many trainings to the health professional and developed curriculum and training manuals for them. She is board member of NATPOW, (National trust for population welfare) from AJK. She is also a member of FPAP. She has received many awards for her work during the Earthquake and also contributions in the rehabilitation process.

5. Dr. Manzoor Ahmad

Dr. Manzoor Ahmad is Deputy Executive Director of Sungi Development Foundation, one of the leading rights based development, advocacy and humanitarian organization in Pakistan. He has over twenty years of experience in program development, implementation, NGO management and governance. Strategic planning, program development, project management, monitoring and evaluation, quality and accountability management, gender mainstreaming in programmes focusing on social mobilization, peace building and conflict management, promoting good governance, community empowerment, rural development, advocacy, human and institutional development, volunteer management, sustainable livelihoods, education, health, community productive infrastructure, natural resource management, climate change and environment, and community based disaster risk management and human rights; are some of the key expertise.

As a committed management and professional staff of Sungi, he has contributed significantly in programmatic and financial sustainability of the organization. He worked as acting Executive Director, a number of times, since 2003 and being Director and Deputy Executive Director, he has gained hands on experience in strategic planning, donor/stakeholder relations building, fund raising, team building, program and financial management. Before joining Sungi Foundation, he was the part of senior management of Extension Services Management Academy (ESMA) a UNDP supported institution, and also worked in other positions during initial years of his career.

6.Muhammad Javed Malik

Currently he is rendering his services as a Chief Welfare Officer in a Establishment division of government of Pakistan. He possesses a huge skill-set having variety of gadgets in several professional genera.

7. Muhammad Younis

He is development specialist, Head of the organization BaahnBeli based in Karachi and operative in Sindh. Life long experience of development sector.

8. Dr.Shehzad Ali Khan
